At the start of its new role of providing information on the ‘Apple Health for Kids’ (AHFK) insurance program in Washington State, Pink Lady America launched what will be multi-faceted effort providing ways to help improve the health profile of our children.
This program is called ‘Pink Lady Cares For Kids™’ with AHFK bringing not only the health insurance coverage for low income children component but also a portion dedicated to preventative care.
With childhood obesity being a crisis in the country, the Pink Lady Cares For Kids™ program is also seeking ideas related to ways to help alleviate that problem. Ideas involving how apples are a perfect ‘healthy fit’ for such a solution are especially important.
akima residents were treated to an inspirational hour with Ali Vincent in August as she was featured at the “Healthy Families, Healthy Kids Luncheon.”
In her first visit to Yakima as the spokesperson for Pink Lady America, Vincent vividly described her journey to become the first female ‘Biggest Loser’ in 2008.
Proceeds from the event were donated to the Children’s Village Wellness program from the Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital Charitable Foundation to help fight childhood obesity.
Near perfect growing conditions along with the usual hard work of the growers has resulted in one of the best Pink Lady® Brand crops in Washington State seen in recent seasons.
Warm weather during much of the growing season, and a touch of coolness in the Fall, again brought on that pleasant pink exterior color, with fruit showing up in the nation’s supermarket produce departments in late November.
Like the remainder of the Washington State apple crop, the production of the Pink Lady® Brand is up significantly over last season with nearly 3.3 million cartons
Congratulations to the three first place Washington State winners in this year’s Pink Lady America program to make the world a whole lot pinker in its ‘Paint It Pink™’ contest with Sherwin-Williams®.
The winners of $1,000 each are Sandra Ellingsworth of Yakima, Carien Scarlett of Ellensburg and Chloe Kehn of Tacoma.
The contest was kicked off earlier in the year as Pink Lady America promoted the Paint It Pink™ in which contestants were simply asked to paint a scene pink around a related theme and include a Pink Lady® Apple or Apples. The scene was to be video-taped and subjected to a five-minute limit.
Sherwin-Williams® generously agreed to be a part of the Paint It Pink™ program by making available a special shade of Pink Lady Pink in more the 400 of its stores, including Columbia Paint & Coatings from coast to coast.
Health care coverage doesn’t just help when your children are sick. It also covers preventative care like immunizations, physical exams, and dental check-ups.
